The Singer/Bass player from Morphine, Mark Sandman, only had his bass strung wit
2 bass strings,making the tuning X X D A low to high,and always played with a sl
and a pick. A similar effect can be used on a guitar easily, since the strings w
the 1st and 2nd strings of the bass, the pitches are the same as the bottom 6th 
5th strings of a guitar. Use slide vibrato (moving the slide up and down the fre
vibrato effect) as much as you want, but during the vocal part stay on pitch as
