Here is the secret to get the sound to the infamous Poundcake Intro.
It is easy if you have the right stuff. You either need:

a) A wireless power drill
b) An electric toothbrush (the cheap route)
at
Ed uses a power drill. If you crank your cd player at the begining
of the song you can hear him talking with alex and getting the 
drill ready. O.K. First you set your guitar to the bridge pickup
then put the drill/toothbrush over the pickups (NOT ON THE STRINGS!!!)
Plug your guitar into a tube amp with some distortion, chorus, reverb
and maybey even a little delay. End the intro off with a pick slide
and go into the song if you know it.
